Treating Women's Health with Chinese Medicine
Wed, June 26

Location: 43 Railroad St. Peace Dale, RI

A healthy period is free of pain and drama. Conventional medicine typically treats the symptoms of menstrual and menopausal issues without addressing the root causes.  Chinese medicine diagnoses, and treats, each woman according to her individual underlying pattern of disharmony. We will introduce gynecology according to Chinese principles, and explain how the health of the entire body affects the menstrual cycle, fertility, and menopause. The function of our Liver, Spleen and Kidneys, our Qi and Blood all play an important role in maintaining healthy cycles. You will gain a holistic understanding of the power, and wonder, of the menstrual cycle, and learn how Chinese Medicine works to treat PMS, painful periods, infertility, hot flashes, and more. Speakers: Drs. of Acupuncture: Nancy Graham & Medelise Reifsteck

Lunar Connections
A uterus connects women to lunar cycles in an intimate and powerful way. The cycling of Blood and hormones throughout the month gives women a unique connection to the waxing and waning energy of the moon that is reflected within their own bodies. Just as the tides respond to the lunar cycles, women's energy rises with the waxing moon, and in perfect health, ovulate during the full moon with maximum fertility. Then as the moon shrinks in the sky, the Blood sinks, and if no fertilization occurs, menstruation happens during the dark moon. Many women today have lost this synchronization with the lunar cycle. Some stop their cycles altogether with birth control and medication to treat  uncomfortable premenstrual symptoms, period pain, fibroids, or endometriosis. Chinese medicine offers a better way to treat such diseases by working with the whole body physiology and the lunar cycles.
